Hey, I’m Emily Duncan, the founder of Fenix Athletica.
I started dancing as soon as I could walk. At the age of 8, when my skills were at the top level of my class, and I was in a position to potentially move up to the professional training division at my company, my dance teacher said, “While Emily excels at technique and performance, she will never have the body of a dancer.”
 
This statement changed how I viewed myself, my body, and my worth. 
 
Over the coming years, I discovered strength training, which taught me to create a connection between my mind, body, and soul to create beauty for myself. I learned that I don’t need the validation of others to feel strong and beautiful and that my unique body type did have a place where it could be celebrated.
 
I started Fenix Athletica because I want to help others find their inner and outer beauty. I want to use science to help people increase their confidence, discover their worth, and feel beautiful inside and out.

About Fenix Athletica Group Coaching

We are taking online group fitness coaching and doing it the Fenix Athletica way—we are making this a full-being experience!
 
Not only will you receive group fitness coaching, but you also get 12 weeks of education on fitness, nutrition, mindset, personal development, and spirituality.
Most group fitness coaching programs only offer group coaching with a weekly live call. We're giving you weekly live calls as well as weekly education from industry professionals with multiple years of education and experience in the field.
 
Our online group fitness coaching isn't just here to help you learn how to work out and eat well. It's here to help you learn about yourself on a soul level to make lifelong transformation as a complete person.

Join Fenix Athletica's online group fitness coaching to improve your inner and outer wellness and fitness to create lifelong change.

Week 1: Nutrition 101 + Answering Miracle Questions

In week 1, you'll learn the fundamentals of calories and macronutrients. You'll gain an understanding of the importance of each macronutrient and how to incorporate it into your diet. The mental portion will help you determine your ultimate goals through this program and help you discover what you truly desire (hint: we'd bet it's a lot deeper than "I want to look good in a bikini").

Week 2: Planning Meals + Creating Emotional Experiences

In week 2, you'll learn the meal planning strategy hundreds of our clients have used to achieve their health and fitness goals. Emily Duncan shares some of her favorite tools for making meals easy and delicious! The mental portion will have you create the emotional experience of your deep desires that you discovered in week 1 and practice visualizing them to make them a reality.

Week 3: Support Your Internal Health + Fixed vs. Growth Mindset

In week 3, you'll learn how to support your digestion and reduce and improve symptoms like bloating, gas, diarrhea, and constipation. You'll learn why you may be experiencing these symptoms and what you can do to overcome them. The mental portion will look at fixed and growth mindsets and teach you to cultivate a growth mindset—not just in fitness but in every aspect of your life.

Week 4: What is Metabolism + Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

In week 4, you'll learn about metabolism, including how you burn the most calories and how muscle mass can impact your daily calorie burn. You'll also learn about metabolic adaptation, what causes it, and, maybe most importantly, how to avoid it. The mental portion will address the limiting beliefs that may be preventing you from achieving your goals. You'll learn to become aware of them and overcome them so you can become your Highest Self.

Week 5: Caloric States Explained + Obstacle Forecasting

In week 5, you'll learn the different caloric states: maintenance, surplus, and deficit, and when you may want to enter into each state. The mental portion will cover obstacle forecasting because you're guaranteed to encounter obstacles throughout your life. You'll learn to come up with solutions to problems you haven't even encountered yet to make them easier to handle when you do face them.

Week 6: What is Biofeedback + Affirmations and Visualization

 In week 6, you'll learn everything you need to know about biofeedback. You'll learn what your body is trying to tell you and how to respond to best support your wellness efforts. The mental portion will discuss the visualization techniques professional athletes use. You'll get a step-by-step process for setting affirmations and visualization techniques to achieve your desired outcomes in life.

Week 7: How to Track Calories and Macros + Removing or Creating Friction

In week 7, you'll learn various methods for tracking calories and macros. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to wellness, so you'll receive multiple options. You'll likely attempt each of these at some stage in your wellness journey. The mental portion will dive into the concept of friction as it pertains to your habits. You'll learn how to create friction to overcome certain habits and reduce friction to increase others.

Week 8: Progressive Overload 101 + How to Cultivate Discipline

In week 8, you'll learn about applying progressive overload to your training sessions. You'll get a breakdown of several different ways to achieve progressive overload so you can continue to make progress toward your wellness and fitness goals. The mental portion covers why discipline beats motivation and how to cultivate discipline. You know you can't rely solely on motivation to achieve your goals, so you will learn what to do instead.

Week 9: How to Warm Up for Strength Training + The Higher Self Behavior Checklist

In week 9, you'll learn how to properly warm up for your strength training sessions. You'll learn the warmup method we give Fenix Athletica clients so you can get the most out of every training session. The mental portion is all about your Highest Self. You'll learn what it means to become your Highest Self and how to get there.

Week 10: Support Your Nervous System + Taking Aligned Action

In week 10, you'll learn what it takes to keep your nervous system happy and thriving. Achieving lifelong change means keeping your body healthy inside and out. You'll learn what may be throwing you off and how to regain balance. The mental portion teaches you the steps of aligning action with manifestation. Co-create with the universe to achieve harmony and wellness.

Week 11: Alcohol and Health + Mind/Body/Soul Morning

In week 11, you'll learn how alcohol impacts your health based on the latest scientific research. You'll learn the different ways drinking can affect your progress on your wellness journey. The mental portion will teach you how to set a Mind/Body/Soul morning routine. You'll learn to make the most of whatever time you have to start your day off right.

Week 12: Signs of Hormonal Dysfunction + Which Wolf Wins

In week 12, you'll learn about your hormone health and how to know when you may be experiencing hormonal issues. You'll learn when you might be experiencing symptoms because of lifestyle, which ones might be due to your hormones, and when it's time for a blood test. The mental portion teaches you The Tale of Two Wolves and how it applies to your health and well-being

Hey, I’m Emily Duncan, and I’m the founder of Fenix Athletica. My mission is to fuse science and soul to help you achieve lifelong transformation. 
 
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and have my Precision Nutrition L1 certification.

Emily Dow

Hey, I'm Emily Dow, the fitness coach who wrote your training program for this group coaching.
 
I consider myself very lucky that my introduction to personal training was in a highly specified setting that emphasized functional training. I began coaching “functional group fitness” classes when I was 18 years old, and at a very young age developed an appreciation for free weights and the many
progressions/regressions available in using them.
 
Once I became certified as a personal trainer, I was able to transition many of my group class attendees into a more one-on-one modality, where I watched them progress far more rapidly following programs of my own creation. It was this observation that led me to the understanding that programming is an art even more than it is a science (although it perfectly marries the two, in my opinion).
 
While I have since transitioned into Olympic weightlifting as my preferred training modality, I have always held tightly onto my passion for dumbbell, kettlebell, barbell, and mixed-modality training.
 
Simply put, I have a passion for guiding my clients toward feeling more “like an athlete” in the context of their own goals and abilities, and I pride myself on creating programs that encourage strength, power, functionality, and confidence. Pull-ups, for example, are considered one of the specialties that everyone loves/loathes me for ;)

Hello! My name is Tara, and I have been in the fitness industry for about 9 years now as a personal trainer and online coach!
 
I have a degree in biology from Wilfrid Laurier University, and I am also a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, so I love to combine science with a more holistic approach to my client's programs.
 
I am passionate about motivating, supporting, and educating my clients on how they can reach their goals in a sustainable way, all while enjoying the journey!
